“Love Changes Everything”
from Aspects of Love
ALEX
Love,
Love changes everything:
Hands and faces,
Earth and sky,
Love,
Love changes everything:
How you live and
How you die
Love
Can make the summer fly,
Or a night
Seem like a lifetime.
Yes, Love,
Love changes everything:
Now I tremble
At your name.
Nothing in the
World will ever
Be the same.
Love,
Love changes everything:
Days are longer,
Words mean more.
Love,
Love changes everything:
Pain is deeper
Than before.
Love
Will turn your world around,
And that world
Will last for ever.
Yes, Love,
Love changes everything,
Brings you glory,
Brings you shame.
Nothing in the
World will ever
Be the same.
Why did I go back to see her…?
WOMAN (GIULIETTA)
Alex, it’s all in the past…
ALEX
Off
Into the world we go,
Planning futures,
Shaping years.
Love,
Bursts in, and suddenly
All our wisdom
Disappears.
Love
Makes fools of everyone:
All the rules
We make are broken.
Yes, Love,
Love changes everyone.
Live or perish
In its flame.
Love will never,
Never let you
Be the same.
You know, sitting in the dark at 5:42 AM and listening to Enya is not the way to start the day in a bouncy, happy mood.
Not a bad mood, certainly, but much more somber than I normally do.
I know there has been a lot of talk in the past about how often I have fallen “in love” in my life. thoemeringue often refers to me as Dobie Gillis (referring to the sitcom from the sixties called “The many loves of Dobie Gillis”).
I suppose this makes me seem insincere in my affections.
I’m not, but I can see how it would look that way.
I am now switching to a completely different topic. I bring this up because the person I want to talk about is maladr1n‘s wife, and I do not wish for him to think I have fallen for her and subsequenly seek to do me great bodily harm.
It is in my humble opinion that Cloud 9 has one shining member in its cast, and that is Summer Bohnenkamp-Jenkins.
I’ve been impressed by Summer’s ability to express so much by doing so little in the past. Even though her role was relatively small, I thought she had one of the most solid and engaging performance when I saw her in Suburbia. I also think she had the hardest, as she had to spend large chunks of time on stage simply sitting there and observing the action. If you’ve ever been an actor, you know how hard that can be. You have to stay in character, stay involved in the scene, react the way your character would, and NOT pull focus from the actual scene that is taking place. It’s very easy to slip into an apathetic trance where you are simply waiting for your next cue, or to overact so much that you are a distraction. Summer danced the line between the two in Suburbia like a ballerina, showing not only her skill but her utter professionalism. I wasn’t the only person who thought this, either. I said someting to “ranney” about it, and the first words out of his mouth were “Thank you!!” He, it seemed, agreed.
But in the second act of Cloud 9 Summer doesn’t have a small role. She has a huge one. In fact, the act is pretty much about her. Her timing and expressions are perfect, and they have me in stiches every time I watch her. So much so that it’s very hard to keep a straight face when she’s actually interacting with ME on the stage (I have a similar moment in the first act with maladr1n…he makes a shift from being horrified to being smugly pleased with himself while looking at me, and his face is so priceless in that moment that I come very close to losing it every time I see it).
The entire cast is really working very hard on this show, and I don’t mean to give the impression that they aren’t. I just cannot get over how amazingly funny Summer is, nor how grateful I am to actually be on stage with her.
It’s going to be a good show.
You know, we are only a few weeks from opening, and there is no sense of panic.
There is no feeling of being miles from where we are supposed to be,
In fact, we are spending an inordinate amount of time working on small, nitpicky things.
In other words, we have a good show. Now we have a few weeks to make it great.
That’s a really cool feeling.
Subject shift again.
I’m getting my groove back.
I haven’t had a cigarette in two days now. I’ve also walked the last two nights. I got up when my first (of three) alarms went off for the second time this morning. I’m still eating too much at night, but even that has been a bit better. I think next time I go to the store I’m going to really stock up on the healthy snacks. If I’m going to break down and dig in to them anyway, they might as well be relatively good for me.
This song has been haunting me recently. I mean it. It’s played several times recently when I was shuffling all my MP3’s (several thousand of them).
Enya
“One By One”
Here am I
yet another goodbye!
He says Adios, says Adios,
and do you know why
she won’t break down and cry?
– she says Adios, says Adios, Goodbye.
One by one my leaves fall.
One by one my tales are told.
It’s no lie
she is yearning to fly.
She says Adios, says Adios,
and now you know why
he’s a reason to sigh
– she says Adios, says Adios, Goodbye.
– she says Adios, says Adios, Goodbye.
One by one my leaves fall.
One by one my tales are told.
My, oh my!
she was aiming too high.
He says Adios, says Adios,
and now you know why
there’s no moon in her sky
– he says Adios, says Adios, Goodbye.
No Goodbyes
for love brightens their eyes.
Don’t say Adios, say Adios,
and do you know why
there’s a love that won’t die?
– don’t say Adios, say Adios, Goodbye.
– don’t say Adios, say Adios, Goodbye.
– don’t say Adios, say Adios, Goodbye
Ok…I’m going to have to listen to something upbeat before I leave, or I’m going to be stoic all day.
Movie night at my place tomorrow night for anyone who is interested in joining. I’m going to go grab miss_nightshade from Clearwater after rehearsal, and should be home around 6. I’m thinking of making some Cornish Game Hens. Mind you, I only have four so if ross_winn is eating that only leaves one open. First come, first serve, unless you want to buy your own for me to cook (yeah, I know…it sounds cheap, but I’m broke until payday).
But tonight…tonight I have Alex…and after he goes to bed?
It’s Everquest time, baby.
