EA SPORTS announces NFL Training Camp

Fitness gaming has come a long way in a very short time. We’ve advanced from games that were, for all intents and purposes, glorified exercise videos to fully interactive workouts with virtual personal trainers. With the upcoming release of the Kinect for the XBox 360 the bar is being raised even higher, and companies like EA SPORTS are fully poised to rise up to the challenge with the addition of gadgets that will actually monitor your heart rate while you’re working out and evaluate your form at the same time. Despite these advances, though, there still seems to be a somewhat unspoken belief out there that these games, while keen, are…well…

For girls.

Many guys just don’t feel that fitness games are “intense” enough for them. Mind you, if they actually tried the games in question they would probably be surprised to find out just how intense they can be, but the incentive just doesn’t seem to be there for them.

That may very well be changing soon.

EA SPORTS has announced that this November they will be adding a new title to their EA SPORTS Active 2 suite of exercise games that seems likely to appeal to the more masculine side of the gamer crowd. EA SPORTS Active NFL Training Camp will be a is a football themed training program designed to put users “right into the football drills and conditioning workouts of a National Football League training camp.” Don’t expect to find any Yoga poses here, folks!

Not only are the exercises modeled after football drills, but NFL fans will be able to select their home team and work out along side their favorite players in their respective stadiums. The game will also be fully compatible with the recently announced EA SPORTS active hub, allowing players to upload their progress and share their fitness achievements online with their friends. There is even a multi-player mode that will allow gamers go to head-to-head with their friends in football based fitness challenges (just make sure you don’t suffer any Martin Grammatica style injuries when you’re celebrating after you’ve won the Field Goal game).

EA SPORTS Active NFL Training Camp will be available on November 16th, 2010 for the XBox 360, PS3, and Nintendo Wii with a MSRP of $99.95.
