Update!

Ok, first and foremost – The date for the weekend outing to Bomb-itty of Errors has been set. We are going to go see the Sunday night performance. The show starts at 8. I would like to get down there around 6. I’m getting the “regular” blanket tickets ($10) so I would like to get down there early enough to get somewhat decent seating (sorry American Stage, but I’m not paying $20 to sit on a blanket. I don’t care if it is “premium” space. That’s just nuts).

If you are going to join us, comment here and let me know what you want to bring food wise. You can purchase your tickets online here (with the service charge 5 tickets came to $56.75, FYI).

The new Air Conditioner is being installed as we speak. Hopefully when I get home tonight there will be new A/C goodness going on.

My Mom is not dealing well with things right now. Apparently R.’s daughter hasn’t changed her stripes after all. I wish I could do more to help her. As it stands I feel utterly helpless when I see or hear my Mother in tears. The best we can do is try to keep her entertained. We’re going to take her out to eat at Bangkok 9 tonight, and she’s going with us to see Bomb-itty on Sunday night.

Machinal rehearsals are starting in about 2 weeks.

That’s about all I have at the moment. Going to go dig up some food.

The bullet, she is a-gettin' bit

Looks like I’m going to have a new air conditioner installed on Tuesday. At this point it’s kind of up in the air, as I’m going to have to get my Mother to co-sign with me in order to get it done. She’s going to call over to the salesman and give her information to him tonight.

Do I want to do this? No. I most certainly do not. I really don’t have much choice in the matter at this point, though. My current unit continues to get worse on a daily basis. As it currently stands the circuit breaker is flipping off on a regular basis and we constantly wake up in the morning with the house being overly hot because the compressor is off. We also had no heat again this winter, and space heaters just don’t do the trick (not only are they kind of unsafe, they also have a tendency to overload fuses and make rooms entirely too hot or not hot enough).

So.

Another monthly payment for the house approaches soon.

Joy.

Edit Oh, and for those of you who don’t live in Florida and who might be thinking “Well, you don’t really NEED an air conditioner.” Yeah, you do. It’s damned near impossible to sleep down here in the middle of summer if you don’t have it. Heat you can live without. Life without an A/C, however, is damned miserable.

Shilling

Yeah, I’m trying to get you to spend money again. Sue me.

As many of you know my son, Alex, has Type I Diabetes. While he has largely learned to live with it, I can still see the frustration behind his eyes every time I have to say to him “because you have diabetes.” He will never be able to just have a meal without worrying whether or not it will affect his blood sugar. He currently has to give himself injections at least twice a day and stick a small needle into his finger to check his blood sugar more frequently than that.

His situation is not the worst possible situation a person could face by any means, but seeing him go through it as his Father tears me up inside.

Why post about this? Because etcet contacted me recently and asked if Alex could possibly benefit from his taking part in a walk to raise money for Diabetes research. Alex is not directly involved with the organization in question, but any money that goes towards research in that field is money well spent as far as I’m concerned and I told him as much. As I read in his journal today, he did indeed decide to take part in the walk, so I thought I would post a link to his donation page and see if I could drum up some more money for him. I mean he is, essentially, walking for my son. It’s only fitting I try to help out.

So anyway…Go donate some money, ya bastiges.

Side note – Through this and other recent examples I am becoming more and more aware of just how lucky I am to have met etcet. Yet another thing I have netgoth to thank for.
