No words, really
I called my Mother yesterday, asking her if she had a copy of my birth certificate. I couldn’t find the one I had, and I need it for Goth Cruise. She said she had it in my folder, and figured it was time to go ahead and give me the whole thing.
Not only is my birth certificate in it, but so were report cards…old ID cards…photos…
And letters
Christmas letters, to be exact. Letters my Grandmother wrote every year, and which my Mother started writing after she died.
I just got finished reading little snippets of my entire life up until now.
I have a lot of emotions going through my head. One thing that strikes me, though…
My grandmother…understood me. Very, very well.
I had no idea.
But she…she knew. Knew what was going through my head. Saw me getting bored with school long before it happened. Saw the potential I had for being overweight. She…
Jesus.
She knew me so well…and I can’t say the same for her. Most of my memories of her are of a bitter, sometimes mean, old woman who was dying from cancer.
And yet…Think about it, Mike. How could a woman like that have been responsible for someone like your Mother?
Dammit.
This was the most amazing, and completely unintended, gift I could have gotten. But I can’t decide whether it’s made me happy or miserable.

The party was a smashing success.
Thank you to all who came, and to all who couldn’t…We hope to see you next year.
Merry Christmas, my friends.
Dur….I'm a sucky friend
A very happy belated birthday to the bestest pooka in the whole wide world, good_eeevening
2006
I have on very simple request to make for 2006.
I don’t want to go to any funerals.
It’s a small request, I think. Just…nobody die next year, ok?
I need a break.

Reminder!
Chistmas Eve party at our place at 8PM on December 24th! Pretty much an open house, so feel free to stop by any time after that. Just let us know if you’re coming.
Weekend accomplishments
- Removed the hot tub and deck from the back porch (with the help of xanyboi and etcet)
- Edged the driveway and yard
- Fixed a broken sprinkler head
- Fertilized the yard
- Finally put borders around the last three flower beds in the yard
- Bought a pressure washer
- Replaced a broken floor tile
Still to do this week
- Pressure wash the back porch
- Paint the floor of the back porch
- Get some of the mondo dirt pile into the garbage can on Tuesday and Friday
- Get the final damned piece of molding installed in the hallway
Yep. It’s been a productive weekend.
Is it time yet?
Ok, rare politics post here, as I’ve gotten tired of the bile that gets spewed in both directions. But I’ve gotta wonder…
President Bush authorized domestic wiretaps to be used against United States Citizens in the wake of the September 11th attacks. This is illegal, according to the laws that we are told protect us as citizens of this country. If wiretaps are to be used domestically, the law states that a warrant must be obtained. The wire tap can be put in place with no warrant, but one must be obtained within 72 hours.
This is the law as we know it.
Now, apparently, part of this secret program allows the President to circumvent the law. Funny, that. I thought that in order to have the law changed the elected representatives of the citizens had to approve or deny it.
President Clinton lied under oath, and was impeached as a result. President Bush has circumvented the Constitution and authorized an invasion of privacy on citizens in this country. Will he be impeached? Will he be charged with a crime?
No, probably not.
For the record….
The Sushi that is now being made and served in Publix locations here in Florida is quite good. Especially their Thai Summer Rolls and the Publix Special. I get that particular combo quite often from the store near my office in Brandon.
The pre-packaged Sushi that is now being sold in some of the locations that do not have a sushi chef, however (such as the one near my home), pretty much sucks.
Had some for lunch today. Not feeling all too keen afters.
Bleargh.
Oh well. Maybe having purchased that package I’ll help motivate Publix to put an actual sushi chef in there.
