FYI

My Mother, who has at several points acted as a surrogate to many of you who read my journal, is turning sixty on Thursday. We are having a dinner at my place on Saturday to celebrate that. If you know her, and would like to come and celebrate with us, let me know.

You know, I really shouldn’t have access to entire blocks of cheese.

Hello, constipation! I imagine I’ll be meeting you in a few hours.

I haven’t had much of a mind to write recently. Not exactly sure why. Must be in just a journaling down period at the time.

I finally got to see netgoth again on Friday night, along with all of my Jacksonville peeps out at Fuel. There are pictures floating around out there somewhere. If I am sent copies I will put them up on my site.

You know how it’s the little things that make you realize how much you’re into someone? I noticed a big one when we were out at fuel. I kissed Krys at one point, and it was suddenly like nobody else existed. She was the sole focus of my existence for the length of that kiss. I didn’t hear or see anything but her. She was, at that very moment, the center of my universe.

That happens in private often, but when it happens out in public – That’s amazing.

I got to meet several of her friends, and seem to be making a decent impression so far.

I got to wake up with her in my arms.

That was the best part of the whole trip.

The drive home, however, sucked.

Leaving was painful, as they always are in the distance relationship scenario. My last site of her was as she pulled past me on Interstate 295 and headed towards work. She flashed a sign at me that she had taught me earlier that day. I smiled, and then I got stuck in traffic.

Yes, right there at the on ramp to Interstate 95 I hit bumper to bumper traffic. I stayed in it until I got past Orlando.

I spent the majority of the trip doing 10-20 miles per hour. It took me 8 hours to get home. I was supposed to pick up Alex and the boys, and didn’t get there until almost 10. There was a party at my house last night that started two hours before I got home.

That was a bunch of holy horse crap.

I’d do it again, though. It was worth it to have an evening with Krys.

Yes, my friends, I am deeply and completely wrapped up in her, and I’m thrilled about it.

Oh, there are more pictures up in the Gen Con gallery. hel_ana uploaded the pics she took while she was there.

The lights and sounds of Atlanta come wafting through the open sliding glass doors of my balcony. It’s really quite lovely. In the distance, I can see mountains and forests. The sky is blood red from the light of the fading sun. The city is beginning to light up. Skyscrapers jut into the night, the glow of electronic illumination emanating from the little squares of glass that dot them. The interstate stretches by to my left, a constant stream of fast moving cars flying towards their destinations.

Night time in the big city.

Ok, so it isn’t New York or Seattle. Still, it’s a far cry from my little house in the suburbs.

We went to dinner downstairs in this “German” restaurant connected to the lobby. The quotes are because of the fact that other than their name and four dishes, it was pretty much a sports bar. Last time I checked, Germans weren’t really big on spinach artichoke dip. I had a pretty tasty hamburger, though. Had brie and bacon on it. Of course, that’s not anywhere near an acceptable level of point usage for a meal, but then again neither are the two candy bars I had afterwards.

Well come on! We got into this huge conversation about Bavarian Chocolate. I was practically crawling with chocolate craving. I haven’t really had any real chocolate in a long time, so I figured what the hell?

Which is why I’m not losing any more weight.

But I digress, and cannot continue as I am meeting Holly across the street in fifteen minutes. I’ll finish this when I get back.

Quick update

I’ve got about 5 minutes to make this entry. I’ve arrived at the Residence Inn in Downtown Atlanta. I’m staying here tonight so that I can attend a conference tomorrow. The conference is the UIE Roadshow on designing an effective user interface. I’m here with my boss Steve and co-worker Dawn. I’ve got my own room on the 22nd floor. Pretty nice deal.

We are about to head downstairs to the German restaurant and get some food. Don’t know what will happen after that. I tried to call Holly to see if she could hang, but she isn’t answering her phone.

I desperately need to shave. I’m looking pretty ragged.

Looks like I’ll be heading up to Jacksonville on August 9th to go to a birthday party for celestialaddict and other Jacksonville Leo’s. Spoke with netgoth about it last night, and she’s up for a party, so I think it shall happen. Ought to be fun to see the gang.

Anyway, I’m outta here. Off to get some crunchy munchies.

I had this whole long entry planned out, but I’m suddenly exhausted. A few drinks, but not enough to get drunk. Just dead tired.

However, I will point out that the Baron Munchausen dinner was incredible, because I got to spend the whole time sitting next to John Kovalick, creator of Dork Tower. He’s a really, really nice guy and we had a blast.

I’ll try and go into more detail tomorrow. I’m off to bed.

Oh…The Gen Con photo album is up, and I have some shots from today in it. Check it out here.
