[WoW] There are times….

…when it’s really hard not to become this guy.

That is all.

Odd things….

Feeling quite stressed today, and I find myself looking forward to getting home.  Not because I want to relax, but because I want to work out.

I don’t think I’ve ever had that particular motivation on a regular basis before.

Strange.

I am ok with this.  I am not ecstatic about it, but I’m ok.  It’s within the normal realm of acceptable weight loss, and my clothes are getting unquestionably looser.  What I’m doing is working, but it’s going to be much slower than the last time I dropped a lot of weight.  I’m…not ok with that…but it’s realistic and I have to accept it.

Positives, though –

Tomorrow will be 8 weeks without a cigarette.  I no longer have a  smoker’s cough, and my singing voice has improved dramatically.

I did a 60 minute workout on Wednesday.  Mind you, it was a flexibility workout and not really very intense, but it was still 60 minutes.  When I started back on the Yourself Fitness bandwagon in December I was doing 15 minute workouts and they were kicking my ass.  Tonight I’m going to try to do a 60 minute cardio workout before going to Alex’s baseball game.  That should be fun.

I’ve started giving myself fewer points for workouts.  It’s VERY hard to convert what I do with Y!F to activity points, because like any decent workout the intensity changes throughout.  If I work out for 45 minutes, it’s not 45 minutes of just one level of activity (and as it changes every day it’s hard to guess how long of each type I do…and I’m not taking notes while I workout).  At the end of a workout I get a “calories burned” total.  I was giving myself one point for every 50 calories, but based on something

said I did some research on the Weight Watchers forum and confirmed that the consensus seems to be one point for every 100 calories.  I’ve also started immediately using the points I get for working out to get some healthy protein in (a hand full of almond and a few slices of turkey breast generally do the trick).

I’ve started taking measurements (last week) instead of just counting on the scale to see results.  Am only going to take them once a month, though.

Speaking of food, it’s time to go get some salad with

, so I’ll catch you cats later.

Heroes Speculation

This started as a reply to

, but it got way too long so I’m putting it here.

Ahhh…Heroes theory.  Been wanting to go over this with someone.

The real question is whether or not Future Hiro actually made any kind of difference – or more to the point, if he even can.  It depends on whether or not the writers are working from the standpoint of the past being alterable or not.  If you recall in the episode about the girl with the eidetic memory, Hiro said he actually tried multiple times to change the past and keep Sylar from killing her but no matter what he did it always came out the same.  This is a very commonly held belief about time travel – the past is the past, and anything that could have happened already has.

So…One theory is that everything we’re seeing in the show is what already occurred in the future that we saw in the most recent episode.  Hiro based all of his research on the paintings of Issac Mendez and news articles.  He assumed that Sylar had actually killed Claire based on the paintings that he saw, and sent Peter to save her.  Thing is, Sylar already HAS a regenerative ability of some sort.  He has been shot numerous times in the show and was actually pronounced dead by the doctor at Primatech Paper.  It may not be to the extent of Claire’s ability, but he can shake off some serious injuries.  If he can come back from the dead and heal from gunshot wounds, he should be able to heal from being stabbed by a sword from someone who has no idea how to actually use one and wouldn’t know how to effectively deliver a lethal blow.

In other words, Sylar is going to heal regardless.  Peter was always the one who blew up, and the only people who knew that were Peter and Nathan (and possibly Linderman).  Nathan covered it up, blamed Sylar, and Peter (because he’s all kind of emo) never even told his closest friends.  Thus Hiro was operating from a false assumption all along.

Now…things that make me think this is NOT the case.

The scar.  It would appear as though Future Peter never met Claire.  There is something significant about the scar in any case.  Peter should easily have healed it if he had met Claire, so either he never did or it was an injury so bad that even his powers couldn’t heal him fully (and he’s come back from the dead as well, so that would be a pretty intense wound).  Of course, blowing up could be a pretty intense wound…but that looks like a sword injury – making me wonder if there wasn’t some reason that Hiro and Peter ended up going at it.  It would certainly explain why there is some tension between them.  Future Hiro and Ando made the claim that they had saved her, and got Bennet’s attention by saying she was alive.  But they hadn’t actually CHANGED anything.  Claire was always alive in the “dark future.”  Bennet had made the claim that Sylar killed her at the prom to protect her, and panicked when they acted with the knowledge that she was alive.

Another Edit (based on something

said)The Haitian could indeed have been nullifying Peter’s powers, but he would have to have been doing it on purpose.  He actually has to focus his powers and intentionally be blocking someone (recall he was standing near Eden when she used her powers on Sylar).  He’s working with Peter’s mother, and there hasn’t been any reason to assume she’d want to harm her son.  He’s actually her favorite of the two, and she’s been very “den Mother” over both of them.

Claire knows who her Father is, though, and had obviously met him in the past.  How she would have met Nathan and not Peter is a mystery, but not impossible to conceive considering the fact that the Haitian works with Nathan and Peter’s Mother (who is possibly “special” herself and at least somewhat aware of what her husband was doing with Linderman).

Future Hiro doesn’t seem to have any recollection of visiting the future with Ando.  When they first met he even said “You’re not supposed to be here,” so unless something happened that caused him to forget (the Haitian),  he had never traveled forward in time.  This would lend itself more to the “Back to the Future” kind of time travel, where certain key events in time spring off to different end results.  It would also mean that Hiro can not only travel through time, he can travel to different time lines – regardless of what ends up happening, what he visited is clearly NOT his future (unless, again, the Haitian erased his memories of the event).

Future Peter also didn’t seem to recall the event in the Subway either, but that wasn’t entirely clear so hard to go with.

Other observations….

Micha died in the explosion in New York (Peter to Nikki – “I killed Micah”).  DL was obviously killed by Sylar at some point, because Sylar has his powers in the future.  This means Micah was in New York at the time of the explosion.  This might be explained when we find out what Linderman has in store for him.  I’m assuming he’s using Micah to affect the voter records for touch screen voting machines in New York to get a win for Nathan.

Edit This would also mean it was likely Linderman died in the explosion, but he knows it’s going to happen so why?  It doesn’t seem likely he’d let someone as valuable as Micah die.

Sylar painted a picture of himself as President in the future, in the same pose as Nathan in the picture that Issak painted.  From what we saw this week, we now know that Sylar killed Nathan and took his place at some point.  The question is whether or not Issak paints pictures of a POSSIBLE future, or if his ability is infallible.  As far as I can recall, everything he’s painted so far has come true.

I think the delivery person who took Issak’sfinal print was Future Hiro.  It would explain how he got the copy of the unpublished comic, and sketches he was using in his time line (from the Sketch book Issak gave him).

Edit the third I’m a big fucking geek.

Don't care how, I want it NOW

I’m having a serious down day as far as my weight is concerned.  Down as in “not feeling motivated and getting frustrated again,” not down as in loss.

That’s part of the problem.

I was only down .4 pounds this week.  This is a week after being up over 3 pounds.  Now normally I’m ok with that kind of thing, but…I’ve been working incredibly hard.  I’ve been journaling everything.  Everything.  I’ve been exercising every day.  I’ve been getting my water in.  Taking vitamins.  You name it.

I’ve even quit smoking for fuck’s sake.  Tomorrow will be seven weeks.

I’m sorry, but a net gain of 2.6 pounds over a two week period in which I have done some seriously high intensity exercise every day is fucking frustrating.

K. says she can really see the difference.  I posted some pictures yesterday (for those of you on that filter), and I can even see some of it.  But it’s too slow and subtle for me to see easily.  I live in this body.  Every day.  I look at it.  Every day.  Slow changes don’t register because I adapt to them as they happen.  The scale is my best indicator as to what is going on.

And all the fucking scale is doing is showing me that I’m STILL STUCK IN THE SAME GOD DAMNED WEIGHT RANGE I’VE BEEN IN SINCE JANUARY OF 2005.

Sigh.

There are a few more things I could do.  I could give up the coffee.  I could stop eating at my desk.  I could stop with the low point snacking and switch to raw veggies.

Or I could just be patient, keep doing what I’m doing, and accept the fact that it’s going to take time for this recent fitness routine I’m on to start showing up on the scale.  Accept the changes that Krys is pointing out to me physically.  Accept the progress that I’m seeing when I take my Physical Challenges.

But damn it’s hard sometimes.

Oh, by the way….I DID get a cloth measuring tape….and I started to take my own measurements….and they were so far off from what I think they should be I was either doing it horribly wrong or I’m physically even bigger than I realized I had gotten again…so not so sure I’m willing to risk that kind of psychological damage to myself.  IF I do it, though, do any of you happen to have a link to some kind of chart or easy measurement tracking system up I’d really appreciate it.

"Heroes" Web Comic

For those of you who have been sucked into the show as much as I have, I highly recommend that you take some time to read the free Interactive Novel that is up on the NBC web site. While you aren’t necessarily missing anything from the show if you don’t, there are definitely some big revelations there that make the story a little more interesting.

The woman who got Parkman and the radioactive guy (can’t remember his name at the moment) together is a major character in the online comic, and you can find out all about her back story as well as how NBC is using her “powers” to actually have the character communicate with the fans through a blog.

Nathan and Peter’s Father served in Vietnam with Linderman, where he was saved by his healing abilities. It can also be said that Mr. Petrelli is responsible for helping Linderman adopt the philosophy he expresses in the latest episode (“0.7%”).

This next one is the really big one, and may possibly be revealed next week on the actual show…as such, you might wanna look away.

Ok… I’m serious, dude.

I warned you…

The Hiro from the future who met Peter in the Subway comes from a future with a different past than the one we are seeing in the show. In that future, Sylar DID kill Claire and steal her powers at the homecoming game. Sylar was also the exploding man. Hiro tried to stop him by stabbing him with his sword, but the regenerative powers that were stolen from Claire saved his life. This is why he told Peter to “Save the Cheerleader” to save the world.

In related news…This show, along with Who Wants To Be A Superhero and the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie have made me REALLY want to start playing in a super hero based RPG again.

[WoW] – Well…that was…easy…

So last night we made our second ever all guild attempt of the Black Morass, which is the second event you find in the Caverns of Time.  The first time we tried it was about two months ago, right after we first got the ability to do so.  It was a nightmare, really.  In the event you face 18 waves of monsters, with three of those waves having a “boss” type of monster.  We never made it past the 6th wave in that first attempt.

Last night?  We finished the whole event on the first try.  No deaths.

We didn’t even have to use an ungodly number of consumeables (potions, bandages, etc…).   Nothing more than we’d have used doing any other dungeon, anyway.  All told, I used one Greater Intellect Potion, one Adept’s Elixir, one Elixir of Healing Power, 2 Super Mana Potions and 1 Bandage.

So…what’s the difference between now and then?

Gear, mostly.  Proof that Blizzard had a pretty clear plan in mind on how you’re supposed to progress through the Burning Crusade content, if you ask me.  At the time our gear was largely uncommon (green), with a few rares (blues) and maybe a leftover old content Epic (purple) or two.  The party last night had been working for a while in Outland, improving their gear and tweaking their specs, and it showed.

Tonight we’re trying again.  Might be a completely different story.  Our tank is new to level 70, having pushed an alt through because of our lack of tanks.  On the upside, it would be nice if we made it and he got the two items that were sharded (destroyed because nobody can use them) last night.

Edit – Comment from

reminded me I should put up our group configuration.

Druid (Tank), Shaman (Healer), Shaman (DPS), Rogue (DPS), Hunter (Non-elite wrangling, DPS)
