My computer has been hijacked for the last 2 and a half days as I have slowly and painfully been restoring as many of the lost files as I can on the external hard drive that xanyboi borrowed from his friend Dave.

At the current time, it’s bogging so bad I can’t even play WoW.

You owe me, mister!! 🙂

The annual cooking and subsequent devouring of the corned beef and cabbage of doom has been completed at our home. It was accompanied by a first this year – Freshly baked Irish Soda Bread (which, unfortunately, turns out to have an ingredient that K. is allergic to – Caraway seeds, for those of you who like to cook for us on occasion).

The recipe I have is amazing. It’s truly one of my favorite dishes, and I only make it once a year (and didn’t make it last year at all…in fact, the last time I think I made it was for a St. Patrick’s Day party I went to up in Jacksonville about 4 years ago). It’s one of those bad for you, once a year kind of treats (let’s be honest here – The fat just drips off of corned beef).

Damn my belly is happy right now, and a general feeling of nostalgic bliss is settling over my very soul.

I can’t honestly say I’m surprised. It’s been a shitty week, emotionally, and was equally as bad in the food department. I was in training 3 straight days, which had catered breakfast and lunch. None of the food was the least bit weight watchers friendly. Do I bring my own food? Noooo. I ate there. And, of course, did the whole “I’m eating it might as well enjoy it thing.”

Blah.

I have, however, continued my daily workouts. Tomorrow will be a solid month straight without missing a day. I also got heavier hand weights (went to 10lb from 3lb) as the ones I was using were doing absolutely nothing for me.

So yeah. A serious weight loss blah (and considering that day 3 of training was today I’ve already blown the large majority of my flex points for the week). Hope to turn it around next week.

I got a call from my sister tonight. She has a crapload of leftover Girl Scout cookies that need to go. So if you need cookies, lemme know (and yes, locals only…unless you’re driving here…she doesn’t want to deal with shipping this year).

Musings

I’m seriously contemplating a return trip to Seattle this summer with my son for the fourth of July. I was just looking at the prices online, and he and I could fly out there for right around $500. I wouldn’t have to pay for a hotel, so all my other expenses would be a rental car and anything I wanted to spend during the week. It’s not exactly cheap, but I think I could afford that.

I really fell in love with Seattle while I was out there, and I’m really wanting to go back…but more than anything, I want Alex to get another opportunity to spend time with Uncle Mike (and hopefully Aunt Jane). He has already largely forgotten my Father, and Uncle Mike had a heart attack last year. I don’t want him to forget them both.

We shall see.

Still not back down to my pre-cruise weight, but I at least got rid of the 4.6 pounds that I put on last week. Which is really good, because if I had gained again I’d have thrown something…or someone.

Was a good week in general, despite the fact that I went over on my points a bit. I still logged everything, and I still got my water in, and I still exercised every day. On that note, I think I need to get some heavier hand weights. I’m currently using 3 pound ones, and I just don’t feel like I’m making any progress in my upper body strength. And I want those cut arms!

And I’d just like to state, for the record, that I absolutely love Sweet Tomatoes. Yeah, I spend a LOT of points…but I’m very full afterward, and I don’t spend nearly as many as if I ate irresponsibly at a less health-conscious restaurant.

That, and the place is just damned tasty.
