He went into chemo this morning.

The occasional snag that happens when couples play MMORPG’s together

Wow. It’s been a really busy day. It’s also been kind of an annoying one. There is a seminar going on downstairs that, despite the fact they tried to muffle it by putting foam over the openings, is very loud and clear up here at my desk. The seminar is about credit scores and loans. I’m waiting to hear back about the appraisal on my house so I can get a second mortgage, so this is causing me no small amount of stress.

That and the speaker is really loud. Really, loud. The are comparing him to the D.I. from Full Metal Jacket over on the I.T. side of the floor.

Note to self : Switch from Skinning and Leatherworking to Mining and Blacksmithing the next time you play WoW. There is no reason to have two leatherworkers in the group you run with, and blacksmithing goes along with your archetype better.

I really want this second mortgage thing to be over with already. Now that I’ve got it on the table in front of me, I’m very anxious to get it over and done with. I want to see all of my unsecured debt gone. I want the cards that have been hanging over my head for years to be finally closed.

I want my new computer.

Heh.

I’m also hoping I’ll be able to get enough to put some more money back into the house. There are still a few things that really need to be done, and if I can get them taken care of without running up any new lines of credit I’ll be really happy. My plan, as it currently stands, is to carry the second mortage for a few years and continue to make improvements on the house. Then I want to completely refinance and go to a 15 year mortgage instead of a 30. By the time I’m ready to do that a few years will have gone by and with the corresponding raises I’ll easily be able to afford it.

I just got finished catching up on my Friends List, and there are a lot of you who had truly fucked up nights last night. Obviously this isn’t a surprise to the individuals involved, but from my perspective it was fairly shocking to scroll down my list and see all these horrible things.

My thoughts go out to all of you who had a crappy night last night. Think of it as a final dress rehearsal for 2005, ok? Just in case you aren’t involved in theater I’ll explain. As a general rule everything that can go wrong will during the final dress rehearsal of a production. This is, generally, seen as a good thing. A crappy final dress is supposed to mean a great opening night.

So let’s hope that 2005 is the opening night that New Years Eve was preparing you for.

So, yeah. No parties last night. We didn’t do what we had originally planned to do, either. We have been collecting mementos of our year together in a bag near my desk, and we were going to put then into a scrap book together last night. Only one problem. We had no scrap book.

We’ve been talking about doing this for a year, but we never got the materials necessary.

So instead we spent the evening playing Worlds of Warcraft. We did log in to City of Heroes at one point just to check and make sure none of our friends were on. Alex called me at midnight to with me a Happy New Year, as did celestialaddict and sketch_says. Got a text message from L. Ate way too much food (we’re doing the end of the year, eat what you want binge) and have some naaaasty gas this morning as a result (mmm…shrimp pesto pizza…garlic-o-rama).

I need to start working on my taxes soon. Hello, nightmare.

It was a good night.

Resolutions? The typical I suppose. Getting back on program. Maybe try to quit smoking again.

Ok, another geek post. Quick updated, here. I’m taking out a second mortgage on the house to consolidate all of my non-secured debt. Part of that money is going towards a new computer. Here is the current list of items I’m looking at.

Total Cost? $1258.93 before taxes.

Edit oops! netgoth pointed out I had the wrong socket configuration for the cooling fan. Corrected now. New price is $1270.43

Edit Part Deux mrzero convinced me to grab a Serial ATA drive for my primary (leaving my backup and storage drives as is). New total is $1333.88

I started installing this game about 3 1/2 hours ago.

This is truly ludicrous.

Fortunately I’ve been able to watch K. play for a bit and I’m not totally ready to turn right around and cancel the account.

Very bad first impression though.

Now it keeps giving me a “Could Not Connect To Tracker” error.

So. Not. Happy.

netgoth has installed and is playing World of Warcraft.

I am still installing.

And then I have to patch.
