Whoo hoo! The plateau stays broken and gets a little more splintered.

Yay!

I was really afraid I might backslide a bit, but I’ve been really diligent about staying on program. So glad it’s showing!

Measurements and pictures later.

And just because I’m curious (as I’m no longer focusing on 52 pounds in 52 weeks per se)…after 27 weeks I’m down 18.8 pounds. That an average of .67 pounds per week, and only 8.2 pounds off from losing a pound a week.

Not too damn shabby.

Weight Tracking Summary

Weight change since your last recorded weight | -5.6 lb
Total weight change to date | -149 lb

Seeing the change in my actual measurements last week helped me continue to get 100% back on track with the weight loss program, and boy did it show! It wasn’t easy, though. Getting back on the exercise, in particular, was rough. I was seriously hurting for a few days there, to the point where walking down stairs was a painful act of concentration. I had a physical challenge two days ago, and I was at 269 on the home scale…I didn’t want to get my hopes up for being below 270, but I WAS hoping it was a sign of good things at the scale. So glad I was right.

I noticed when I was leaving that the shorts I’m wearing are really loose. Like, I should be wearing a belt loose.

Oh, darn.

A little historical data on my current weight.

I have lost 18.4 pounds since getting home from Goth Cruise last January.

This is my lowest recorded weight since 02/26/05. I weighed in that day at 272 pounds, and have not been below that number since. I have generally foundered in the mid to upper 270’s the entire time, but I have spent some time in the 280’s as well. If I can continue this trend for just one more week and lose anything more than .2 pounds, I will be breaking a plateau that has lasted for 121 weeks (yes, I could consider hitting the new low breaking the plateau, but the 270’s have become my current El Juapo, and until they die like a dog I will still consider myself at a plateau).

Thank you all for the support you’ve given me through this. It helps. It really does.

Weight Tracking Summary (including Measurement updates)

Didn’t post my numbers from last week, because I was really kind of pissed about them.

Your current weight | 275.2 lb
Weight change since your last recorded weight | +2.6 lb
Total weight change to date | -144 lb

Which was not the best way to start a vacation weekend in which I wasn’t going to be able to exercise and was going to be tempted with a lot of food and booze. When it was all said and done, I got back to my workouts on Tuesday. After missing four workouts I got 60 minutes in with Maya two days in a row and I fucking hurt. You’d think I hadn’t been working out for the last four months or something.

So I got back on the scale tonight, and was up again…

Your current weight | 275.8 lb
Weight change since your last recorded weight | +0.6 lb
Total weight change to date | -143.4 lb

I tried to keep up the positive self-talk that should accompany something like this. I mean, half a pound after some of what I ate over the weekend REALLY isn’t that bad. But with the big gain from the week before it was a real bitter pill to swallow. I decided to go ahead and have Krys take my measurements as soon as I got home, though.

April 27th Numbers

Biceps | 14″
Thighs | 28″
Chest | 50″
Waist | 50″
Neck | 17″
Hips | 52″

Current Numbers

Biceps | 12.3″ (- 1.7″)
Thighs | 26″ (- 2″)
Chest | 50″ (no change)
Waist | 47″ (- 3″)
Neck | 16.5″ (- .5″)
Hips | 50.5″ (- 1.5″)

So..yeah..some pretty big changes there – especially when you figure that’s just over 1 month. So all in all I’m pretty happy.

Still wanna get out of the 270’s, though…damnit!

I am ok with this.  I am not ecstatic about it, but I’m ok.  It’s within the normal realm of acceptable weight loss, and my clothes are getting unquestionably looser.  What I’m doing is working, but it’s going to be much slower than the last time I dropped a lot of weight.  I’m…not ok with that…but it’s realistic and I have to accept it.

Positives, though –

Tomorrow will be 8 weeks without a cigarette.  I no longer have a  smoker’s cough, and my singing voice has improved dramatically.

I did a 60 minute workout on Wednesday.  Mind you, it was a flexibility workout and not really very intense, but it was still 60 minutes.  When I started back on the Yourself Fitness bandwagon in December I was doing 15 minute workouts and they were kicking my ass.  Tonight I’m going to try to do a 60 minute cardio workout before going to Alex’s baseball game.  That should be fun.

I’ve started giving myself fewer points for workouts.  It’s VERY hard to convert what I do with Y!F to activity points, because like any decent workout the intensity changes throughout.  If I work out for 45 minutes, it’s not 45 minutes of just one level of activity (and as it changes every day it’s hard to guess how long of each type I do…and I’m not taking notes while I workout).  At the end of a workout I get a “calories burned” total.  I was giving myself one point for every 50 calories, but based on something

said I did some research on the Weight Watchers forum and confirmed that the consensus seems to be one point for every 100 calories.  I’ve also started immediately using the points I get for working out to get some healthy protein in (a hand full of almond and a few slices of turkey breast generally do the trick).

I’ve started taking measurements (last week) instead of just counting on the scale to see results.  Am only going to take them once a month, though.

Speaking of food, it’s time to go get some salad with

, so I’ll catch you cats later.

Don't care how, I want it NOW

I’m having a serious down day as far as my weight is concerned.  Down as in “not feeling motivated and getting frustrated again,” not down as in loss.

That’s part of the problem.

I was only down .4 pounds this week.  This is a week after being up over 3 pounds.  Now normally I’m ok with that kind of thing, but…I’ve been working incredibly hard.  I’ve been journaling everything.  Everything.  I’ve been exercising every day.  I’ve been getting my water in.  Taking vitamins.  You name it.

I’ve even quit smoking for fuck’s sake.  Tomorrow will be seven weeks.

I’m sorry, but a net gain of 2.6 pounds over a two week period in which I have done some seriously high intensity exercise every day is fucking frustrating.

K. says she can really see the difference.  I posted some pictures yesterday (for those of you on that filter), and I can even see some of it.  But it’s too slow and subtle for me to see easily.  I live in this body.  Every day.  I look at it.  Every day.  Slow changes don’t register because I adapt to them as they happen.  The scale is my best indicator as to what is going on.

And all the fucking scale is doing is showing me that I’m STILL STUCK IN THE SAME GOD DAMNED WEIGHT RANGE I’VE BEEN IN SINCE JANUARY OF 2005.

Sigh.

There are a few more things I could do.  I could give up the coffee.  I could stop eating at my desk.  I could stop with the low point snacking and switch to raw veggies.

Or I could just be patient, keep doing what I’m doing, and accept the fact that it’s going to take time for this recent fitness routine I’m on to start showing up on the scale.  Accept the changes that Krys is pointing out to me physically.  Accept the progress that I’m seeing when I take my Physical Challenges.

But damn it’s hard sometimes.

Oh, by the way….I DID get a cloth measuring tape….and I started to take my own measurements….and they were so far off from what I think they should be I was either doing it horribly wrong or I’m physically even bigger than I realized I had gotten again…so not so sure I’m willing to risk that kind of psychological damage to myself.  IF I do it, though, do any of you happen to have a link to some kind of chart or easy measurement tracking system up I’d really appreciate it.

Just out of curiosity…

52 pounds in 52 Weeks
Week 12 Goal : -12 pounds
Week 12 Total : -6.8 pounds
Difference : -5.8 pounds

Wonder if it’s possible and/or healthy to catch up at this point?  It’s not really my long term focus anymore, but I have to admit to being curious as to how close I can get.  Made it a point to really stick to it this week, even though I didn’t have a big loss last week.  The irony is that this includes eating some truly horrendous food at the Renaissance Festival last weekend (hello fried Snickers).  Thing is, I tracked it all and still didn’t go over my weekly POINTS allowance.

And on that note, I need to go finish paying my bills so I can possibly get a workout in before work.

I won’t lie. I’m very dissapointed in this number.  I worked very hard this last week, making sure to get all my water in and everything.  Exercised in some way every day, and on many days I did so twice.

Yeah, yeah.  Muscle weighs more than fat.  I know.

Still loathe those numbers.
